Tokyo is big. Flying in and seeing it out the window, it just kinda went on and on. It makes it seem like you were going to swimming in people, but there were some surprises where we stayed.

That’s the Tokyo Skytree. I was visible down the main stretch we walked on, near our hotel. This picture was somewhere around 6:30. There were a few people around, but largely it was quiet. There were more people moving about during the work rush, but it still was not as many as I would have predicted. Maybe part of it was that they were all generally so quiet. There were a few conversations here and there, but everyone seemed to following library rules.
And while there were cars, there were far more bikes. Not a ton of places to park. The lack of car noise made it VERY quiet at night.
Oh.. and those lamp posts have little light boxes on them with different scenes.

And restaurants on ever corner! All different kinds. We ate at this one place..

It was our first time with Yakiniku, which is where you cook the meat on a small gas grill at the table. It was really good. Even our kids, who are so-so about eating steaks, were totally into it. When we finished we all went and had a nice meat-coma.
Everything about this made it feel a lot smaller than the megalopolis Tokyo is.
