Tannehill Ironworks State Park is a pretty cool place. We learned a bunch about iron furnaces, how they were fired, and what ingredients were needed to create iron.
This structure was rebuilt in 1976 and was fired to melt iron and create some items, like cannons and cannonballs to display in the park.
There were also a large number of log cabins that have been moved to the park and restored. Their frontier town even had a barn that reminded me a lot of my Papaw’s barn, right down to the sandy ground with ant-lions.
There were also a ton of trails. We didn’t even go on the biking trails.

I had a little trouble adjusting to the local time.
I mean.. Is this daylight savings or standard? Maybe UTC? I don’t see a -0600 on it anywhere.
We have also met some nice people along the way. Most are out for a weekend or a week, but there are a number out for a longer run like us. We met this fellow doing laundry here at the park. We didn’t interrupt him, though. He was very focused on his work.

Loved the pictures.
I hear 10.0.0.1 is nice this time of year as well. 😉
That’s vacation home!
Looks amazing so far! Chi, Penny and Olivia say hi ! They miss you! 😻
Alabama is such a pretty state. Too bad about the inhabitants, both the 6 legged kind and the 2 legged.
